    Ah interesting… I wonder what happened to “Mr Ten Pence”… the last time I saw him (years ago) he was coming out of the bookies’. Perhaps he won lots of money and gave up begging.

    He had, as I recall not from meeting him but from your description, a Scottish accent. In my story he has undergone a kind of Dickensian transformation and sounds a bit like an old-fashioned cockney.
